Bank of Baroda organised the Annual Banking Conference with the theme Banking Beyond Tomorrow yesterday. And Shaktikanta Das, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India graced the situation as the chief guest.
More than twenty eminent speakers from both the banking and financial services industry and outside were present for this event. The day long conference had five stimulating and thought-provoking panel discussions. They were Banking Beyond Tomorrow, New Frontiers in Financial Inclusion, Innovative Technologies and New Business Models for Digital Banking and ESG Finance and Tackling Climate Change. It came to end with an Economists’ Round table.
Speaking on the occasion, the RBI governor mentioned about the steps taken by the organisation to buffer the effects of the economic slowdown. He also talked about the need of social media penetration to educate public about the safety procedures and grievance redressal mechanisms. Need for a fully automated service system was also discussed along with the need of the robustness of online payment systems.
Financial inclusion of all sectors of the population in policy making and economic development at the grass roots were also discussed. Empowerment of the rural population and women of the country were also few other points that came up.
