EKA and NuPort partner to introduce Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

EKA, a subsidiary of Pinnacle Industries Limited has entered a partnership with NuPort Robotics to introduce Level 2 autonomy, advanced driver assistance systems. This technology will be used in their electric bus models E9. This is the country’s first initiative towards the utilization and incorporation of progressive Level 2 autonomy and Artificial Intelligence for Electric buses on Indian roads.

EKA has started tests on a range of autonomous features developed by NuPort. This technology promises to make improvements in safety, reducing environmental footprint, and increasing operational efficiency of the fleet.  After the necessary testing, this technology will be deployed with over 5000 buses of EKA. This investment of nearly INR 150 Crores in innovation will contribute to the future of transportation and sustainability in the country. When it are deployed in commercial vehicles, accidents will be reduced by a very large margin.

NuPort Robotics is a Canadian company. It had announced its plans to set up operations in India and fully develop and deploy its technology in India for commercial vehicle manufacturers. It will follow Made in India approach to contribute to the advancement of economic development and innovation within the country. NuPort’s technology provides level 2 autonomy features specifically targeted for Indian roads. And learning the complex nature of Indian traffic while understanding the Indian driving mindset. This partnership allows both NuPort and EKA to offer Indian customers latest vehicles that can be continuously updated to retain that innovative advantage. It also uses proprietary AI technology which will progressively enable autonomous features thereby increasing safety, operational efficiency, and reduced carbon footprint.
