The government of Meghalaya is taking considerable steps towards the development of the economic sector. To that end, the Chief Minister inaugurated the North East Fruit Wine Incubation Centre. Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated this facility on Thursday, September 14. State Agriculture Minister Ampreen Lyngdoh and Excise Minister Kyrmen Shylla also attended this event.
The North East Fruit Wine Incubation Centre is the first of its kind in the entire Northeastern region of the country. It is located at the Institute of Hotel Management in Mawdiangdiang in Shillong. This facility is a collaboration between the Meghalaya Farmers Welfare Commission. And the Institute of Hotel Management in Shillong.
The Chief Minister also made the announcement regarding this development over social media platform X on Thursday. He mentioned that the wine-making process has been a tradition for the tribes of the state. He also encouraged the local winemakers and entrepreneurs to continue the traditions. And to make the best use of the new North East Fruit Wine Incubation Centre.
He also mentioned that the wine makers of the state can take support from this facility. They can take support in terms of wine making, packaging and marketing from experts. Conrad Sangma also mentioned that he wanted to make Meghalaya the Fruit Wine Capital of India. And by promoting the fruit based wines, shift the interest from just wine made from grapes.
The chief minister also mentioned that the establishment of this facility will help the state. It will benefit both the tourism and the agriculture sectors of the state. The products will attract more tourists to the state. While parallelly, the farmers of the state will be able to get more profits from their produce. It will also encourage more and more people from the state to become entrepreneurs especially in these sectors of the state.
