Zerund, a startup based out of Guwahati has received a funding of INR 7.8 Cr. , which is equivalent to $ 1 million. Assam chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the cheque to the founders of this startup alongside other dignitaries.
Three young engineers founded Zerund in the year 2018. The founders David Gogoi, Mousum Talukdar, and Rupam Choudhury were classmates in the Assam Engineering College. Their simple idea of manufacturing lightweight, high durability bricks using industrial waste has won them many laurels and clients. These bricks are made majorly of fly ash sourced from the National Thermal Plant Corporation and plastic waste. And their clientele include multiple private and government projects of various scales.
This investment came from the Gruhas ASPIRE accelerator program. It is a joint initiative of Gruhas Proptech Fund, DLF Family Office and Anthill Ventures to further the growth of environment friendly construction technologies. Abhijeet Pai from the Puzzolana Group, Nikhil Kamath a co-founder of Zerodha and Rahul Talwar the Director of DLF Family Office were present alongside the CM. The event was held in the NEDFi Convention Center in Guwahati and six other organisations received funding.
The founders mentioned that they will utilize the fund to increase production. Also they wish to improve their distribution networks. As of now they have one production plant each in Guwahati and Pathsala.
