Jalan Kalrock Consortium is the successful resolution applicant and new proposed promoters of Jet Airways. And today they announced the appointment of Vipula Gunatilleka as their Chief Financial Officer. He will be joining the organisation from the 1st of March.
Vipula Gunatilleka was the Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines till January and lead the national carrier during the global pandemic. He was recruited by the Board in 2018 to re-structure SriLankan Airlines and in less than two years after assuming the duties as the CEO the organisation recorded positive flows. As a result of key initiatives to improve the service standards and operational efficiencies, the airline was accredited with the World’s Most Punctual Airline twice in the year 2019. Before SriLankan Airlines, he was the CFO & Board Member of TAAG Angola Airlines from November 2015 to July 2018 under Emirates Management.
Vipula Gunatilleka became a Chartered Accountant in the year 1987 after which he did his MBA from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is also a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) from UK and Certified Public Accountant (FCPA) from Australia. He is known for his knowledge in aircraft financing, strategic planning, cost-efficient business modelling and openness to adopt hybrid models to lower business costs and increase efficiency.
