After the break of two years, the tourism industry is back with a bang. This is evident from the fact that the state of Jammu and Kashmir received a record number of tourists.
Replying to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha, Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home mentioned this detail. According to the reply, a total of about 1,06,24,000 people went to the state this year. This record number of tourists is from the 1st of January to the 3rd of July this year.
No information was however given if these were domestic or foreign tourists. Confirmation was also not given if participants of the Amarnath Yatra and Vaishno Devi Yatra are part or not a part of this number.
The movement of tourists to the region became easier after the Article 370 was revoked on the 5th August 2019. Investments in tourism sector increased leading to infrastructure development in the region. And once the lockdowns were over, more and more tourists started visiting this beautiful place.
Similar development have been noticed in other parts of the country as well. Assam’s Kaziranga National Park has received record high number of tourists in the last tourism season. Same can be said about the state of Meghalaya during this season.
