Krisarthak is a program designed to provide financial education and literacy to the farmers of the state of Assam. Funded by the World Bank, it is an essential part of the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project. The current aim of this project is to provide the services to the registered beneficiaries between 2022 and 2024.
The project has its budget spent over five core financial services. These include savings, loans, insurance, pensions and payments. Five separate value chains are also covered under Krisarthak. These are agriculture, hand loom and textile, horticulture, fishery and dairy.
Under the financial education section, the project has implemented four different verticals. Bittiya Sakhi is a self-paced e learning module, Bittiya Khetu is an IVR helpline, Bittiya Sahayak enables digital literacy on the usage of FEC Modules and the Bittiya capsule comprises of SMS and audio calls. The Financial Counselling segment consists of two parts, the Bittiya capsule and the Bittiya Khetu.
The project aims to create a Financial Education and Counselling stakeholder community with participation from multiple sectors. Some of them include educational institutions, financial institutions, service based agencies and NGOs. It also connects farmers, different verticals of the agri-alied businesses and APART. It also aims at the creation of a network of resource persons to physically assist the stakeholders
