Pineapples from Manipur are now available in the Lulu Hypermarket in Dubai. This is the latest farm product from the Northeastern region to be available in the United Arab Emirates.
This is an in store promotion of the organic certified Kwe variety of pineapples from Manipur. Rich in fibers, this lot of the fruit has been grown naturally and has organic certification.
The Manipur Organic Mission Agency handled the sourcing of the fruit directly from farmers across the state. Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority supported the Thayong Organic Producer Company Ltd. from Imphal East of Manipur to export. While the Lulu Hyper Market is the one responsible for the showcasing and sale in Dubai.
Pineapples from Assam were given the same stage in the month of July this year. While those from Tripura made to the Dubai markets two years backs. According to a release, 7665.42 MT of pineapples valued at USD 4.45 million was exported from India in 2021-22. APEDA has helped in a significant increase in the export of agricultural produce from across the country.
The Northeastern states have also gained access to these markets. Steps are also in place to explore other products which might have high demands in the export markets worldwide.
