The Indian Railways has provided its vacant land near the Bogibeel bridge for making a floating restaurant. The move has been taken to to boost tourism in the state of Assam.
The Ministry of Railways took to twitter to make the announcement on Friday and said that it will in boosting the eco-tourism of the state.
Bogibeel Bridge is the 5th longest bridge in India and the longest rail-cum-road bridge in Asia. It measures about 4.49 kms over Brahmaputra river. Its constructuction began in 2002 and was completed in a span of 200 months.
It also happens to be India’s first bridge to have fully welded steel-concrete support beams that can withstand earthquakes of magnitudes up to 7 on the Richter Scale.
