In an order issued on Wednesday, Assam government suggested the use of dry Prasad instead of cooked Prasad during the low key celebrations of Biswakarma Puja and Mahalaya on 17th September in Kamrup (M).
Along with these, the state government issued some other instructions to be followed in Kamrup (M) in connection with observance of these occasions. The instructions have been issued in the interest of public health and hygiene owing to the continuous rise of Covid-19 in the district.

- Gathering of cloud in public places is prohibited.
- In Puja offering places only 15 persons are allowed at a time by maintaining social distancing.
- Construction of pandels/commercial stalls in public places including on roads will not be permitted.
- Special lighting and use of sound system will not be allowed to avoid attraction of gatherings’-
- Cooked food as prasad may be avoided at Puja offering places. Only dry prasad may be distributed.
- No procession will be allowed for immersion.
- Devotees will use sanitizers frequently and will wear mask.
- No cultural programme will be allowed on 17th September.
This order is issued under section 34 of Disaster Management Act of 2005 and will be effective in the entire kamrup (M) district. Any violation of this order will attract legal action to the offender(s).
