One of the most favorite ingredients of Assamese cuisine, the Assam lemon will now be available in the markets of London. The information came on the Twitter handle of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. And it comes under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
Although a wide of variety of lemons grow across Assam, the Kazi Nemu is the most well known as Assam Lemon. This is the variety that is being exported to London. It is a very rich source of Vitamin C, which is one of the main necessities of human immunity. Apart from all the minerals and vitamins, it is also very refreshing in taste.
Another huge lot of 5.98 metric tonnes was exported to London from Assam between 4th December 2020 and 28 January 2021.
Apparently this huge consignment of lemons was cultivated by the farmers of the Tinsukia district of Assam. And it will be distributed across multiple markets and locations of Europe. So it is a great news for all farmers and agripreneurs of the state and entire northeast.
Previous year Assam also exported pumpkins in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong. And a variety of red rice of Assam was exported to USA few months back.
