The Ministry of Tourism on Friday decided to extend the validity of certification of hospitality units and restaurants till September 30. This step is taken so than that the ailed industries do not have to face the burden of taxes for the lock don period.
As per the notification, the hotels, motels, apartment hotels, restaurants etc. whose validity has expired or about to expire during the lockdown period i.e. 24.03.2020 to 29.06.2020 has been further extended gor three more months.
Previously the registrations were extended to the 30th of June due to the same reason.
This decision has been taken in view of the Covid-19 situation in the country. The hotel and restaurant industries have been worst hit by the pandemic. And recovery to a pre – pandemic stage might take up to many years.
India is currently in the 3rd position among the list of the worst Covid affected countries in the world. But India also has one of the best recovery rates in the world.
Government of India is taking many steps to improve the tourism sector as soon as possible. Few important steps in this direction include the development of lighthouses, encouraging film shooting and even an MOU between AIIMS and ITDC.
