The West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL), popularly called the Purabi Dairy celebrated Purabi Milk Day today in the premises of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, Assam. On the occasion well performing dairy farmers of the state were felicitated alongside cultural events.
This annual Purabi Milk Day is organized by the organisation to bring various stakeholders of the dairy industry of the state under one roof and discuss about various problems and prospects. Sharing of all experiences during the previous year is also a part of the event.
Atul Bora, the minister of Agriculture , Horticulture and Food Processing , Animal Husbandry, Urban Development and Town and Country Planning , was the chief guest of the celebration. He also awarded the Highest Output Dairy Farmer Cooperatives and Best Women Dairy Farmer of the four zones in the state. Also best regular Dairy Farmer Cooperatives of different zones were awarded. He also gave away the bonus for access value of milk and a prizes for the best technician in AI.
WAMUL had also increased the procuring price of milk this year increasing the income of the dairy farmers of the state. They have also been able to increase the procurement and sale volume of milk.
