The Manipur forest division on wrote a letter to Nestle regarding a factual error on the wrapper of one its chocolate models.
According to the forest division, Nestle has shown the location of Keibul Lamjao National Park as Meghalaya on the Kitkat wrappers. Whereas the park is situated at Moirang Manipur.
As reported by The Indian Express, Dr A Okay Joshi, principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) in the letter to Suresh Narayanan, CMD Head Office Nestle House, Gurgaon, mentioned, “I am writing to you to point out a serious factual error regarding one of your products. We have come across a wrapping paper for KitKat chocolate which mentions the name of “Keibul Lamjao National Park” however signifies its location in Meghalaya, which is grossly incorrect”.
Joshi further identified that the image displayed on the wrapper is of Red Panda, a species that isn’t discovered within the nationwide park. “This appears to be an irresponsible act on the part of Nestle company, which has apparently allowed this without verifying the facts”, mentioned Dr Joshi.
This has error has stirred quite a bit if controversy especially on social media platforms. In some tweets, people went on to say that these kinds of errors signify the lack of knowledge about the Northeastern region of India.
As the controversy stirred, Kitkat posted an apology on their social media handle adding that they will make two new packs highlighting Keibul Lamjao National Park in Manipur and Balpakram National Park in Meghalaya.
