The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued an advisory to all the eateries in India. This advisory comes after various state governments decided to open up food businesses including restaurants to open up gradually. As of now states like Assam is allowing food outlets to work for takeaway or delivery only. These FSSAI Guidelines are for people working for delivery as well.
Some of the main points highlighted by the advisory include :
- Maintain high levels of personal hygiene.
- Practice Social Distancing at all times.
- Cleaning and Sanitation.
The whole notification is divided into the following key parts :
- Responsibility of Food Business owner/manager : list of all the steps to be followed by the management. Right from procuring to safety of workers.
- Personal Hygiene of Food Handlers : everyone who comes in contact of the food or utensils or packaging material.
- Practice Social distancing : a must at every level of all organisations, even for food delivery.
- Cleaning and Sanitation : this is must for all places, equipment and people of all eateries. Special care to be taken of High Touch Points as per the FSSAI Guidelines.
- Special Instructions for different Food Sectors : special guidelines for all the allied sectors of food distribution, supply chain, delivery, retails, transportation etc.
- Food Packaging : Specific instructions are given about packing materials and practices.
- Guidelines for Consumers : Not only businesses, but also customers need to follow guidelines for their own safety as well as that of others.
- Recommended Protocols when Employee / Visitor / Customer Tests positive for Covid19 : Government protocols must be followed in case someone is tasted or presumed to be Covid19 positive.
