A report by The Economic Times suggested that Google may soon step into food delivery services in India. According to the report, the Google food delivery service will allow the users to place their orders directly on the website and make direct payments.
However, the deliveries will be conducted by a third party platform Dunzo, as per the ET report. The Dunzo has been working on upgrading its systems to integrate menus, in pricing and preparation for Google’s food delivery segments launch, the report stated.
Talking to ET, Anurag Katriar, president of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) said that Google’s entry into food delivery will prove to be a big game changer as nobody else has the size and reach of the tech giant as of now.
“If Google is choosing India as the market we welcome it wholeheartedly,” Katriar added. Katiar also informed that the deliveries will not be restricted to Dunzo alone, it will add more third-party platforms.
Google is the second international giant to step into the food delivery market of India post the Covid 19 outbreak. Previously Amazon had announced about their entry in this sector in May.
