Jonbeel Mela to be Held from January 21

The Jonbeel Mela will be held at the Jon beel near Jagiroad from January 21 to January 23. The fair is known for its unique barter system that used to practiced in earlier times

As per reports, there will be a community feast followed by community fishing on the first day which will be attended by Gova Raja Deep Singh Deoraja.

The hill tribes from the neighbor state Meghalaya will exchange their indigenous food and products with the tribes of Karbi Anglong on January 22.

The traditional Jonbeel Mela with unique barter will be held at Jonbeel Pathar near here from January 21 to January 23. According to the decision of the Rajdarbar, Gova Raja Deep Singh Deoraja will attend a community feast followed by community fishing at the mela venue on January 21.

On the second day, the unique barter will take place where different tribes will exchange indigenous food and other products on the second day.

Apart from the barter and the royal family being present, this is one of the biggest markets in and around the place. Everything from furniture to poultry and vegetables to clothes is available here. It is also an excellent place to try out local food and beverages.
