A restaurant in Madurai came up with a unique idea to spread awareness among people. Temple City, a popular restaurant chain in Madurai is serving masked- shaped parottas to customers.
The motive was to spread the word about the importance of wearing masks among people to contain the spread of Covid-19.
According to a report, the owner of the restaurant K. L. Kumar came up with this innovative idea on Tuesday morning. By the evening, his idea was executed and served on plates. Thanks to the Parotta Master of the restaurant, S. Sathish, who said that he made the parottas in the shape of surgical masks.
“Not many in Madurai wear masks but everybody here loves parotta. We just put the two together,” said Kumar as reported by The Hindu.
Kumar noticed many people walking around in public without wearing masks. Many of his customers would walk into the restaurant without masks especially during the time when the eatery briefly reopened between June 8 and June 28 post the relaxations in the district. Those customers were given free masks by the restaurant, informed Kumar.
One plate consisting of two masked-shaped parottas is being sold at Rs. 50.
