Milk joins the rest of the food items in the upward journey of prices. Milk is going to cost more in the city of Guwahati from the beginning of August.
The Brihattar Guwahati Go Palak Sanstha, an ass ociation of dairy farmers of the city of Guwahati has made this announcement. With more than a thousand members registered to this organisation, this organisation supplies a major amount of unbranded milk in Guwahati. This hike has been reasoned to be due to the increase in folder and feed costs. The increase in prices of transportation and fuel are also been cited as the reason of this hike.
According to reports, the current price of milk in the city is Rs. 50 per liter. From the 1st of August, it will cost more by Rs. 4, bringing the price to Rs. 54 per liter. The leading dairy union of the state of Assam, the West Assam Milk Union Limited had also increased its prices two months back. Different variants of Purabi Milk now cost Rs. 58, Rs. 60, Rs. 62 and Rs. 67 per liter.
Milk products are already going to cost more with the implementation of 5% GST from the 1st of July.
