Pizza chain Dominos has announced to offer free pizzas for life to ace weightlifter Mirabai Chanu who bagged the first silver for India at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.
This comes after the champion weightlifter from Manipur expressed her desire to have a pizza after being on a strict diet for the Summer games during an interview with NDTV.
Quoting the footage from the channel, Dominos tweeted, “Congratulations on bringing the medal home! You brought the dreams of a billion+ Indians to life and we couldn’t be happier to treat you to FREE Domino’s pizza for life. Congratulations again!!”.
“I will have a pizza first. It has been a long time since I had one. So, I will have a pizza”, said Chanu during the interview after winning the medal.
Chanu clinched a Silver becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games in the women’s 49 kg weightlifting event. She also created history for the nation by winning a medal at the Olympics after more than 2 decades since Karnam Malleshwari in Sydney.
Wishes poured in after the Chanu’s victory was announced. Taking to Twitter, Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi said,” Could not have asked for a happier start to @Tokyo2020! India is elated by @mirabai_chanu’s stupendous performance. Congratulations to her for winning the Silver medal in weightlifting. Her success motivates every Indian. #Cheer4India”.
