Beverage major Pepsi initiated a fund raising program #PepsiSaveOurRestaurants in association with online food ordering & delivery platform Swiggy and National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) to support restaurant workers.
NRAI represents the interest of more than 5 lakh restaurants. It is governed by a committee of members and led by a President and Office Bearers. The committee consists of over 35 Restaurant CEOs / Owners representing various national and international brands from the F & B sector.\Under this progrmme by Pepsi, nearly 2.5 million meals are expected to be provided to the workers of the restaurant community affected by the pandemic.
Starting from June 25 till July 19, everytime a customer adds a soft drink to a meal while ordering on Swiggy, Pepsi will contribute a part of the proceeds in respect of each soft drink ordered to the NRAI Covid-19 Relief Corpus.
The fund in return will be utilized to provide dry ration to restaurant workers who are going through hardships due to this ongoing pandemic.
Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff tweeted on Thursday, saying “Our restaurant workers do everything they can for us. Today, lets do a little for them…”
As per reports, the offer is valid on any packaged soft drinks ordered from restaurants listed on Swiggy platform which includes carbonated soft drinks, packaged iced tea, packaged juices & packaged juice-based drinks and is not restricted to just the purchase of Pepsi.
The outbreak of Covid-19 has financially affected tons of people across India. The food sectors is one of the worst hit industries during this time. Several food outlets have shut down leaving the workers unemployed.
