Purabi Dairy, the largest dairy cooperative of the region has decided to celebrate the World Milk Day on the 1st of June by starting an awareness campaign. The key aim of this awareness campaign is to tell people of the city about the benefits of consumption of milk and dairy products.
Assam’s largest dairy cooperative society, the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL), observed World Milk Day by flagging off two vehicles. These vehicles traveled throughout the city and generate awareness about the benefits of milk and milk products. These vehicles were flagged off by the Managing Director, Satya Brata Bose from their dairy plant at Panjabari in Guwahati on the 1st of June. These vehicles carried Purabi Dairy branding and offer cool milk to the people of the city to drink.
This year’s theme for the World Milk Day is Sustainability in the dairy industry, as well as nutritional, environmental, and socioeconomic empowerment. Keeping up with this aim, these vehicles distributed pamphlets to create awareness among Guwahatians. The initiative covered multiple locations in Guwahati including Sixmile, Ganeshguri, Beltola, Bhangagarh, Paltan Bazar, Pan Bazar, Silpukhuri, Kahilipara Chandmari, Uzanbazar, Maligaon, Adabari and Jalukbari
Purabi Dairy is responsible for providing livelihood to nearly 29,000 dairy farmers across the state. Apart from this, they are also training the farmers in agro allied activities like beekeeping, honey harvesting etc to help increase their income. And several workshops are conducted in this direction from time to time.
