Banana Blossom Chutney or Naga Chutney

A Naga meal is incomplete without a rustic chutney using local and exotic vegetables and often has high heat. Here is a simple Naga chutney recipe made of banana blossom. It is super easy to make and delicious as well as healthy to consume.

Preparation time : 30 minutes.
Cooking time : 20 minutes.
Cuisine : Indian ( North East).
Taste : Spicy.

Ingredients

  1. Banana flower – 1
  2. Tomato – 1 large
  3. Onion – 1 large
  4. Ghost pepper – 1
  5. Turmeric powder – 1/ 2 tsp
  6. Mustard oil – 1 tbsp
  7. Salt to taste

Method of Preparation

  1. Remove the top layer of the banana blossom and chopped the rest into fine pieces.
  2. Slice the onion and tomato.
  3. Chop the ghost pepper.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add sliced onion and saute for sometime.
  5. Add the chopped ghost pepper and sliced tomato and saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Next add the turmeric powder and stir for sometime.
  7. Add chopped banana flower and cook till it become tender and the water dries.

The Banana Blossom Chutney or Naga Chutney is ready to served with a plate of hot steamed rice.
