Restaurants and other hospitality services have been allowed to operate in Kamrup Metropolitan District as per the guidelines of Unlock 1.0 released by Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Saturday. The order shall come into force with effect from 19th July 7 PM till 2nd August 7 PM.
The notification stated that the restaurants will operate only on takeaway basis from Monday to Friday during the non-curfew hours i.e. 7 AM to 5 PM. Home delivery of cooked food has also been permitted within the non-curfew period.
Restaurants in Guwahati had to close down again due to the total lockdown imposed on the Kamrup Metropolitan District from the midnight of June 28 for 14 days. The lockdown was extended for 7 more days owing to the concerning Covid – 19 scenario of the city.
Although the cases of Covid-19 have not subsided, yet the authorities decided on Saturday to allow activities in a restricted manner.
Apart from restaurants, all shops, and business establishments have also been allowed to operate on one side of any street on any given day and the opposite side on alternate days between Monday to Friday from 7 PM to 5 PM.
Milk, milk products and baby foods are allowed to sold on all days.
Among other activities, vegetable, fish and meat wholesalers will also resume their work from Monday to Friday between 7 AM to 5 PM. Home delivery of these items are also permitted from Monday to Saturday between the given period.
However, pan, gutkha and cigarette shops have been barred to open.
Movement of individuals will remain strictly prohibited from 6 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and no movement will be allowed on Saturday and Sunday.
Currently, Assam stands at 7760 active cases of Covid-19 with 53 deaths.
