Government of Assam on Monday issued guidelines to be followed for the first phase of unlocking to contain the spread of the global pandemic.As per the latest guidelines, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services will be allowed to operate from 8th June 2020 maintaining social distancing with 50% capacity at a time.
Earlier, the restaurants and other food outlets were allowed to operate in the state only on takeaway and delivery basis.
The night curfew is still on in the state between 9 PM to 5 AM. Between this time, movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited, except for essential activities. Person above 65 years of age, pregnant women and children below 10 years are advised to stay at home, except for essential and health purposes.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will also be issuing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the allowed activities in the state. Cinema Halls, Gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theaters bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places shall remain closed.
School, colleges, Universities, coaching centers and other places of gathering shall remain closed until further orders.
So far, Assam has recorded 1390 cases of COVID19 with 1106 active cases. The number is highest among the Northeastern states. In a recent press meet, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he wants to close the ‘COVID chapter’ by the end of June.
