Gahori or pork is one of the highest consumed meats worldwide and definitely a favorite in Northeast India. So here is another traditional pork recipe for pork – the Til Gahori or Pork with Sesame Seeds.
Ingredients :
- Pork – Half a Kilogram.
- Ginger – a small piece.
- Garlic – a few cloves.
- Onion – a medium sized.
- Cooking Oil – Mustard or Sesame Oil.
- Salt according to taste.
- Sesame Seeds – about 100 grams.
- Dried red chilies – 2-3 pieces.
- Green Chilies according to taste.
Method of Cooking Til Gahori :
- Soak the sesame seeds for about 2 hours.
- Wash and boil the pork. Add a pinch of salt while boiling.
- While the pork is boiled, make a paste of the ginger and garlic.
- Also chop the onion and make a paste of the sesame seeds.
- Heat about a tablespoon of oil in a pan and add the dried chilies to it.
- Add the onions and saute till golden brown.
- This is followed by the adding the pork to the pan.
- Add chopped green chilies and salt according to taste.
- Fry on a shimmering flame till the color is golden yellow.
- Add the sesame paste after that and continue sauteing for about 5 more minutes.
- Add about 3 cups of water and let it boil for about 5 more minutes if you want a gravy.
Your Pork with Sesame Seeds is now ready to be served. You can garnish it with chopped chilies, coriander leaves or finely chopped onions.
Til Gahori in the dry form is an excellent appetizer to go with your booze. While the gravy dish goes perfectly with steamed rice.
Note : Do not use too much til or chilies as they can overpower the taste of pork and that of each other.
