A Pineapple farmer in Tripura got an order from a customer in Dubai via Common Service Centre‘s (CSC) digital agricultural platform Kisan E-Mart.
Union communications, Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad took to twitter to inform the news.
“Pineapples from Tripura got a buyer in Dubai through the digital agriculture platform of CSC”, said Prasad in the tweet.
The Union Minister also informed that the farmer who used to sell pineapples in local markets at very low prices. Through this digital platform the farmer has got a very attractive price for his produce.
The CSC is an organisation of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Government of India. It provides farmers a fair price for their crop during the Covid-19 pandemic. By using this platform, the farmers can get relieved from the burden of selling their crops in the market.
CSC’s initiative Kisan E-Mart was launched last month to digitally connect the farmers with markets. Farmers and buyers can register on the portal after a KYC verification process. Once the farmer is registered, the main driver of this platform adds the stock of the farmer for sale, at a minimum price. Depending in the stock and quality, the product is sold for the quoted price or more.
