A Union Minister on Thursday demanded the ban on Chinese food and restaurants selling Chinese foods in India. This demand by Ramdas Athawale came as a reaction to the violent border face off between India and China that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers at Galwan Valley.
Post the Galwan Valley incident, many have voiced out to boycott Chinese products. Athawale too showed his support in this regard by demanding the ban on Chinese food in India.
The Union minister expressed his opinion in a tweet saying, “China is a country that betrays. India should boycott all products that are made in China. All restaurants and hotels that sell Chinese food in India should be closed down.”
About 14 percent of India’s imports is from China which mostly includes cell phones, toys, telecom power etc. The government of India has been taking several steps to put down the countries import dependence on China.
It is to be noted that a large number of eateries in India serve Chinese Cuisine. These eateries depend on raw materials and products manufactured in India itself. The also provide employment to a huge number of Indians nationwide. After a closure of more than a month, these eateries are slowly opening as per regulations of Unlock 1 .
