The 7th of July is celebrated as the World Chocolate Day to celebrate this godly ingredient. On this occasion Discover East talked to chocolatier Bidisha.
Q : Tell us about yourself.
Hi! I am Bidisha from Guwahati. I am a chocolatier by profession. You can reach me on my Facebook page ‘Cocoa Secrets By Bidisha’.
Q : When did you fall in love with chocolate?
I have loved chocolates since childhood. And have always appreciated quality chocolates.
Q : When did you start making it professionally?
I started practicing from 2016 and started making professionally from January, 2017.
Q : Tell us bit about the process. How much time does it take?
That depends on the type of chocolate that I am making, like plain chocolates take lesser time and center filled ones take much longer as i make the fillings myself.
Q : Is it different from baking a cake? Is it easier than baking a cake?
Baking cakes and making chocolates are two different entities, and hence have their own set of challenges.
Q : Tell us about your product range. Is it a viable business?
I have plain, flavored chocolates, blended chocolates, and premium center filled chocolates. The packs are tailored to suit the clients’ taste and budget. Yes, it is a viable line of business.
Q : What are your future plans?
In the future, I am excited to try out newer blends and flavors, and introduce liqueur chocolates. I would definitely try my hands on crafting with chocolate.
