Milk is considered a wholesome food for young and old alike. Its nutritional values are beyond anything else and in order to commemorate this, World Milk Day is celebrated on the 1st of June every year since 2001. The Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations started this to recognize Milk as a Global Food.

- Strong Bones : With is high calcium content, Milk enables healthier bones. This is specially important for young children and old people.
- Healthier Muscles : High protein content means more muscle growth and faster healing in case of injury. Also means better immunity.
- Regulate Blood Pressure : Potassium in milk helps to keep the blood pressure regulated.
- Better skin and bones : Milk is a source of natural vitamin D. The human body naturally makes Vitamin D from sunlight, but with age and certain medical conditions, supplements become necessary.
- Strengthen Immunity : Vitamin A and Vitamin B12 helps in maintaining immunity and healthy Red Blood Cells and Nerve cells
- Better Eyesight : Vitamin A is also one of the main necessities of healthy eyes.
- Better Digestion : The Niacin of Milk helps to metabolize sugars and fatty acids. And the Riboflavin is necessary to convert food into energy.
The Dairy Industry in India employees thousands of people across the country in order to meet the overgrowing domestic demands. The main products sold in India include pasteurized milk, butter, curd and cheese. The theme for World Milk Day,2019 in India was Drink Milk : Today and Everyday.
With about 22% of the world’s milk production, India tops the list of producers according to the FAO. This productions contain both the branded produces of milk and the household small scale dairy farmers. Thanks for the Operation Flood of 1970, which led to the White Revolution, that India became sufficient in Milk Production.
