Under the mass testing drive initiated by National Health Mission Kamrup Metro, employees of food delivery aggregator Zomato were tested for COVID-19 in Guwahati on Wednesday.
The initiative was taken to ensure their safety and good health of the employees as well as the rest of the citizens as delivery services are operational in the city even during curfew hours.
As per the guidelines of the state government, restaurant, dhabas and other eateries can operate dine-in guests up to 1 PM. However the home delivery will be operational.
Talking to Discover East one Zomato valet seeking anonymity said, “As it is our job, we have to work. But the best part is that there is no traffic because of the curfew. So we reach our locations on time without tearing through the usual Guwahati traffic”.
Zomato recently introduced an emergency feature on their app by using which one can order food during covid emergency. Before placing the order, the customer will have to mark it as an emergency order after which zomato will give top priority to it.
The delivery giant also urged the users not to misuse the feature and use it only when there is a genuine emergency.
