The Kharballi Lower Primary School is located in the Barpeta District of Assam. Floods that took place in 2022 had some devastating effects on the school. Now, the same school has been rebuilt under the CSR initiatives of Group Legrand India.
The Kharballi LP School is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra in Barpeta. It suffered massive damages in the floods of 2022 rendering it impossible to use. It had about 370 students belonging to a total of three villages located in the vicinity. And washing away of the school was a massive blow to the education of these children. With no other schools in the vicinity, they were left without the means to continue their studies.
And that is when Group Legnard India stepped in to reconstruct the school. They collaborated with the community and United Way India to complete the project. They had engaged local villagers in the reconstruction of the school. This not only generated employment but also fostered a strong sense of community involvement. And brought smiles to the faces of all the students of the region.
The new school has also been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and resources. It aims to provide a comprehensive educational environment to the children. It also aims to empower the local students, enabling them to excel in their academic process.
Mafida Khatoon, Head Teacher of Kharballi L.P. School, thanked them for reconstructing the school. She mentioned the importance of education to the rural community. She also added that with the support of the local community, they had set up a temporary shed to hold the classes.
Tony Berland, CEO & MD of Group Legrand India was also present. He expressed his enthusiasm and pride in being a part of this project towards the education of children.
