Global Running Day – Celebrating the Free, Safe and Healthy Exercise

Global Running Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday of June every year since 2016. The main goal of this worldwide event is to celebrate and promote the sport of running. Interested participants from all over the globe register and pledge to take part in certain running activity on the website.

Previously called the National Running Day, it was first celebrated in 2009 in the United States of America. The current version had its first edition in New York on the 1st of June 2016. More than 2.5 million people from across 177 different countries pledged on the official website.

Benefits of Running

Here are few points to motivate you to practice this easy exercise.

  • Keeps Your Heart Healthy : Running is definitely the best exercise for your hear. Be it on a treadmill or on a track, running is going to give you an excellent cardio boost.
  • Stronger Joints : Running means putting more pressure on your joints, thus making them stronger and more flexible. Any complaints about stiff ankles ? Why not practice running.
  • Better muscles : Running gives proper workout to almost all the muscles of the body including you abs.
