The new health minister of the newly elected Assam cabinet Keshab Mahanta made a few key announcements regarding the handling of the of the Covid situation in the state.
The following are the key points.
- COVID patients with co-morbidities have to go for institutional quarantine irrespective of age. The previous order was for people aged more than 60.
- COVID Pediatric Intensive Care Units to start up in seven medical colleges of the state.
- COVID vaccination program will be increased up with 70 thousand daily doses in Kamrup Metropolitan , Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Nagaon, Dibrugarh and Cachar.
- Special vaccination arrangements for all senior citizens and specially abled people of the state.
- Government to provide three months interest free loan to private hospitals which are willing to purchase & administer vaccines (under the 25% reserved quota).
- Government has decided to fix rates for private super specialty & private general hospitals in respect of COVID treatment, cabin charges, ICU with ventilators & ICU without ventilators.
As per the health minister, the following are the rates fixed and limited for the private hospitals.
The price of a General COVID ward has been fixed at Rs. 4000 and while charge for a private cabin in super-specialty hospital will cost Rs. 6500 and Rs. 5000 in a general hospital.
Intensive Care Unit with ventilator will be charged at Rs. 15000 per day in a super-specialty hospital while in a general hospital it will be Rs. 12000. The Intensive Care Units without ventilator will cost Rs. 9000 in general hospital while in a super specialty hospital it will cost Rs. 10000.
