Ambubachi Mahayog committee issues rules for visitors

Guwahati: The Ambubachi Mahayog Parichalana Committee has issued a set of regulations for the upcoming annual event. This year’s Ambubachi Mahayoga will be observed at Maa Kamakhya Devalaya from the morning of 22 June 2024 to 26 June 2024. The Prabritti timing will be 08:43:39 am on 22 June.  The doors of Maa Kamakhya Devalaya will remain closed for devotees on the 22, 23, 24 and 25

June 2024. On the 26 June, the doors will be open at 6 am in the morning for devotees after the Snan and Nitya Puja as per tradition. No special ticket of Rs 501 will be issued on 26 and 27 June. Also, VIP/VVIP passes will not be issued from 21 to 30 June.

Guidelines for the devotees during the Ambubachi Mahayog.

There will be no free lodging camp and free food distribution facilities for devotees in and around Nilachal Hill. Drinking water facilities, resting shades and medical camps will be set up at some points on the motorable road. Devotees after entering the Devalaya Campus will exit from the East and West gates after doing Parikrama. This year, the Devalaya has engaged 400 scouts and guides, 150 volunteers, 250 private security personnel along with 120 regular security personnel. A total of 400 CCTV cameras have also been set up by the Devalaya.

110 temporary cleaners in addition to 200 regular ones have been engaged to maintain cleanliness in and around the temple complex for the Ambubachi Mahayog. For the devotees queuing up for the Darshan on the 26 June, temporary sheds, medical facilities, and drinking water facilities are being set up at Bongshi Bagan area. Also, the Devalaya will provide food to all the service providers engaged during Ambubachi Mahayog. 

Devotees will be allowed to enter the Nilachal Hills only till 8:00 pm. The road from Pandu to Kamakhya Temple will be open for devotees till 9:00 pm. Devotees should enter the hill by placing their shoes and sandals under the South Kamakhya

flyover if possible. The temple authorities or administration will not be responsible for the non-return of shoes and sandals. They have appealed to the general public not to visit with little babies, aged persons and physically weak persons. The entire Nilachal Hill has also been declared a no-smoking Zone. People under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to enter the Devalaya Complex.

They have also requested the District Administration to ensure round-the-clock water and power supply, medical facilities, toilet facilities, adequate security and proper cleaning during the Ambubachi Mahayog.
