The Assam Society of Bangalore had successfully organised Durga Puja in a traditional way in the South Indian city of Bengaluru.
A large number of people with their roots in the Assam now stay out of their home and in different parts of the world. And Bengaluru is no exception from this. Students, IT professionals and Assamese people from from various other walks of live reside in this city. So almost all major festivals of Assam is celebrated in this city. The eighth edition of Shree, an Assamese magazine published from Bengaluru was also revealed during the event. Even Janmashtami was celebrated in the city in the Assamese way.
This year’s Durga Puja in Bengaluru was also performed in a completely traditional way. So much so that even the pandits doing he religious duties were from Assam. Cultural programs were also organised as a part of the celebration. Assamese artists and performers from different places were invited to be part of the event. Traditional prasad was also distributed among the devotees on the occasion.
Thousands of people visited this year’s durga puja in Bengaluru. Apart from the usual Assamese public and their friends and family, several localities also visited the event. Noteworthy among them was the Member of Parliament from Bangalore South, Tejasvi Surya. He is also the president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
