In view of the upcoming Ambubachi festival, the district administration has issued a set of regulations. DC Kamrup Metro, Pallav Gopal Jha released these regulations on Tuesday.
The Kamrup Metropolitan District administration has arranged for the accommodation of devotees at four temporary camps. These are located at the Pandu Port, Kamakhya Railway Station and Sonaram Field respectively. Police personnel deployed at the camp will ensure the safety and security of the people in these camps.
The administration has deployed a large number of police personnel to secure the Kamakhaya Devalaya. About 800 volunteers and personnel from other agencies will augment the police force. These people will engage in security as well as crowd management duties during the Ambubachi Mahayoga. They have also engaged members of the Scouts and Guides, Civil Defense and private security firms.
The district administration, police and health departments have set up three joint control rooms. These are located at the Kamakhya Cutting at the foothill, Prashanti Lodge on the way to the temple and the VIP parking area near the temple premise. Police will also set up eight additional assistance booths on the way to the temple. The district administration have also installed CCTV cameras across the Nilachal Hill.
Facilities of drinking water, resting sheds and medical booths have also been arranged for the devotees. They will make arrangements for transportation of senior citizens and physically challenged people. Vehicles will ferry them from the bottom of the hill to the temple complex.
Devotees will be able to perform only one Parikrama around the people. The temple administration has taken this step has been taken to avoid crowding in the temple.
Anyone hosting the pilgrims, including hotels, lodges and private residences will have to keep records of whom they are hosting. The hosts have to share detailed records with the police when asked. The administration also requested the hosts to use the Seva Setu Web Portal of Assam Police.
The district authorities also listed nearest Police establishments.
