The Kamakhya Temple itself is undergoing preparations for the four-day closure during the Mela (June 22nd to June 26th). Priests and temple authorities are finalizing rituals and ensuring the sanctum’s sanctity.

Securing the Occasion

Additionally, 400 scouts and guides, 150 volunteers and 250 private security guards have also been engaged by the temple management.

Accommodating the Influx

Guwahati is bracing for a massive influx of visitors. Temporary accommodations have been set up near the temple complex and at other designated locations to provide shelter for devotees. Local transport authorities are gearing up to manage the increased passenger flow.

Spiritual Significance

While the temple remains closed, devotees observe a period of introspection and spiritual connection from June 22nd to June 25th. Special prayers and fasting are observed outside the temple premises. Local vendors are stocking up on puja materials and offerings to cater to the needs of devotees during the reopening ceremony.
