Kamakhya Debutter Board, the governing body of Kamakhya Temple has issued a press release about the Ambubachi Mela 2020. With the impending danger of the Covid 19 pandemic, the body has informed that the necessary rituals will still happen in the temple.
Like the previous years, Ambubachi Mahayog will be held in the Devalaya from the 22nd June to 26th June,2020. The Prabritti or start time is on the 22nd June, Monday at 07:53:15 hours. And Nibritti or end time is on the 25th June, Thursday at 20:16:55 hours.
The release also states that that no devotee/sadhu/sanyasi will be allowed to enter the temple premises or nearby places. Also all entrances shall remain closed to prevent anyone climbing up.
No social organisation or group will be allowed to set up camps, stalls, advertising etc in the vicinity. Also no distribution of food shall be allowed during these days.
It also warns public about fraudulent behavior on social media and other websites.
The press release also mentions that the temple premises were closed before the lockdown was given. It also remains closed after the permission to reopen was given in Unlock 1. These steps were taken in order to prevent the further spread of Covid -19 pandemic.
