The Ambubachi Festival 2022 is dated to be held from the 22nd of June to the 25th of June. The festival will be held properly after a break of two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event will be subject to a few new rules and regulations as mentioned here.
Minster of Tourism, Jayanta Mallabaruah presided over a meeting of all the stakeholders for this event. Representatives of the district authorities and temple administration were also present.
As per the new rules and regulations, no cultural events will be held for the event. Also there will not be no publicity or advertising allowed this year. No vehicles except emergency services will be allowed to the temple. No car passes shall be issued this year by the administration. There shall also be no VIP entries when the temple gates reopen. Special emphasis has been placed on cleanliness this year.
Apart from these, there shall be transportation and accommodation facilities for the pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya Temple during the Ambubachi Festival. Emergency services will be working round the clock to maintain safety. Transportation from the bottom of the hill to the temple complex or accommodation facilities shall be available for old people and specially abled pilgrims. Rest of the people shall have to walk up the hill using any one of the three main ways. The accommodation of pilgrims to the festival have been arranged in the Old Jail campus in Machkhowa, Old Railway station in Maligoan, Kamakhya Station and Boripara field.
