The countries are divided into three categories- Green, Amber and Red wherein India comes under the second cateogory as per the new travel rules.
Reacting to this new rule, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, “India will be within its rights to initiate reciprocal measures if UK does not address concerns over new travel rules relating to COVID-19 vaccine certification.”
The rule stirred a controversy among the Netizens and many termed the rule as ‘discriminatory’.
“Absolutely bizarre considering Covishield was originally developed in the UK and The Serum Institute, Pune has supplied to that country too! This smacks of racism”, said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh
