India Rolls Out the Yoga Mat: 10th International Day of Yoga

On June 21st, India vibrated with the energy of thousands as the nation observed the 10th International Day of Yoga. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” resonated across the country, with events emphasizing yoga’s holistic impact on both individual well-being and social harmony.

The main event was held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. Pictures captured a sea of enthusiastic participants following along as the Prime Minister guided them through yoga postures. This choice of location held particular significance, showcasing the unifying power of yoga in a region known for its scenic beauty and diverse cultural heritage.

From bustling city squares to serene beaches, yoga sessions unfolded throughout India. Community centres, parks, and even schools turned into makeshift yoga studios.
