MHA Issues Guidelines for Unlock 3

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday issued guidelines for Unlock 3 which come into effect from August 1. The process of phased re-opening of the activities has been extended further in Unlock 3.

The new guidelines have been prepared based on the feedback received from states and UTs and extensive consultations held with related central ministries and departments.

Here are some of the important points issued in the guidelines:

  • Night curfew has been removed
  • Yoga institutes and gyms have been allowed to reopen from August 5. The health Ministry will issue SOP to ensure social distancing and contain the spread of Covid-19.
  • Independence Day functions will be allowed with social distancing and maintaining health protocols.
  • Schools, colleges and coaching institutes will remain closed till August 31 2020
  • International Air travel of passengers have been allowed in a limited manner under ‘Vande Bharat’ mission.

Metro rail, cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment park, bars, social and religious congregations remain barred.

Lockdown will continue to be implemented strictly in the containment zones.States and UTs can make changes based on their assessment of the situation.

However, there shall be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movements of person and goods.

Unlock 3 comes as the third stage of reopening India in the month of August. There were two previous stages, ie. Unlock 1 in June and Unlock 2 in July .
