Multiple Flight Cancellations Leave Passengers Aggrieved


After two months of suspension, domestic flight operations in India began on Monday. However, on the very first day, several number of flights were cancelled across the country, leaving the passengers stranded, angry and distressed.

As many as 82 flights were cancelled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Many others in Mumbai, Chennai & Bengaluru were also called off.

IndiGo’s flight to Guwahati and Air India’s flight to Bengaluru from Hyderabad were also cancelled, reported ANI.

Earlier, Assam Health Minister Himanra Biswa Sarma informed that eight flights will be arriving at Guwahati airport on Monday. Some of the flights will be landing with full passenger capacities. All passengers will be scanned for COVID19 at the Airport. People from Assam will be segregated & send to their respective district by buses.

“Resident commissioners of different northeastern states will receive the people of their states, at Guwahati airport. They can take them to their respective bhawans or directly to the states”, added the Health Minister.

He also added that he number of flights will increase as Kolkata airport starts its operations from May 28 & trains will also start plying so next week will be challenging.
