The 1st July is observed as the National Doctors’ Day in India. The history of this day dates back to 1991. The Government of India established this day to commemorate and honor the legendary Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. Dr. Roy was the second Chief Minister of West Bengal.
The main objective of establishing this day was to pay a tribute to the contributions of all the medical professionals who have been saving lives and keeping people healthy.
The day is observed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) every year with a particular theme. The theme for this year is Lessen the mortality of Covid-19. This also includes awareness about asymptomatic hypoxia and early aggressive therapy.
The ongoing global pandemic has acquainted us with many ‘heroes’ around us. The first and foremost are definitely the healthcare personnel who are living on the edge everyday to wipe out this virus.
On the occasion of 1st July National Doctors’ Day, we salute all the doctors out there who are giving a tough fight to Covid-19. These heroes have been staying away from their families, risking their lives and working relentlessly without resting. Their services will never be forgotten.
