In a bid to promote friendship and business ties, an international car rally was flagged off from Guwahati on Thursday morning. The Bangladesh India Bhutan Nepal or BIBN Friendship Car Rally will visit these four countries. The flagging off event took place on the premises of the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.
The organizers flagged off the BIBN Friendship Car Rally from Guwahati before it started moving towards Bhutan. And thereafter move towards the rest of the countries including Bangladesh and Nepal. The theme for this year’s rally is ‘Connecting Neighbors’. The North East Federation on International Trade has organized this event. They had also organized the popular ASEAN Car Rally three times in the past. Which included the counties of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos along with India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.
The event was flagged off by the spokesperson of the government of Assam, minister Pijush Hazarika. Speaking on the occasion, he said that this rally will prove useful for promoting his trade and commerce. He also added that the Northeastern part of the country is essential for increasing business in the region. And this event will help promote the Northeastern region in the markets of the neighboring region.
Dr Anup Gogoi, retired professor of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Mrinal Hatkhowa, General Secretary of the North East Federation on International Trade are at the lead of this rally. In this edition of the BIBN Friendship Car Rally , the participants will cover a distance of 3000 kilometers. They will cover this distance in a duration of just 10 days.
Several other dignitaries also attended the flagging off of the rally from Guwahati. These included a Member of Parliament from Guwahati, Queen Oja, Member of Legislative Assembly from Kamalpur Diganta Kalita and actor Jatin Bora.
