Although the origins of the International Picnic Day are not known, it is believed to have started after the French Revolution. The idea is to encourage people to go out. And to spend some quality time with near and dear ones.

Guwahati Foodie, the largest food related community of the region started an initiative called #GreenPicnic. The idea was to cause the least possible plastic footprint. Banana leaves replaced disposable plates and glasses by bamboo tumblers.
