Over the years, India has developed into an exotic yet budget destination for foreign tourists from multiple countries. In a bid to revamp that image, and attract more inbound tourists, the tourism department has decided to promote Wedding Tourism.
Wedding tourism, also called marriage tourism or destination weddings is a popular concept worldwide. Under this concept, enthusiasts travel to exotic destinations for getting married. And it is usually a limited number of guests including family and close friends who also travel with the couple. Apart from giving a remember-worthy experience, it also helps in the reduction of costs.
Union Tourism Minister G Krishan Reddy officially launched this initiative on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he called this step marks a new dawn for the tourism sector. He called it an “ambitious campaign aimed at showcasing India as a premier wedding destination on the global stage.”
He mentioned that this campaign is an attempt to scale up the tourism sector to new height. And they will exploring new avenues in the sector. Wedding tourism is also expected to expand the country’s massive wedding industry. Thus allowing couples from all over the world to celebrate their special day.
The tourism minister also called this step the beginning of a new journey. And the mission to place India as the most favored destination for weddings. He also invited couples from all over the world to explore the possibilities in the country.
The campaign with start with the selection and development of 25 possible locations across the country. These unique locations will allow the couples to choose whichever suits them. Landscapes, traditions, and cuisines from all over the country will be available for them. These locations will also offer ancient heritage with modern elegance to interested couples. The initiative also proposes a collaborative endeavor between all stakeholders.
