Kenny Basumatary’s latest Assamese film Ki Kowa Dosti, releases in theaters across Assam today. This film is a simple tale about a group of boys living a rented house and girls in another. And all about how they navigate through the ups and downs of life.
Some problems that almost everyone has faced in their lives have been showcased in a very comic way. Including unwanted guests, over smart flatmates, crushes and cooking. Misadventures with drunk friends, gang of thieves, and even fitness trainers are part of the simple plot. Everyone can relate to atleast one character of the movie, either as themselves or as someone they know.
The cast of Ki Kowa Dosti has several new faces and some well known ones. Kenny Basumatary also makes a very short appearance in the film. Arghadeep Barua also plays a short role of the crush of Rimi Deori in the film. Rupashree Phukan, Shruti Hussain and Rimi Deori make their debut on the big screen with this project.
Kenny Basumatary has a remarkable track record of connecting with the local crowd. His Local Kung Fu 1 and 2 are still talked about films even after several years of release. Suspended Inspector Boro grabbed two awards in the Assam State Film Awards. And his previous release, Local Utpaat was a massive commercial success.
Speaking about the project, Kenny mentioned that the idea was to create a Friend’s like show for the Assamese people. He mentioned that the team shot Ki Kowa Dosti as a series, but they enjoyed so much that they decides to release it as a film. To give the audience of the big screen a taste of the comedy out of regular events.
Overall it is a simple comedy movie which everyone can watch with their family and friends.
