Local Utpaat has managed to make profits in its very first week of theater release and this has brought smiles and hope to Assamese film industry.
Released on the 13th of May, Local Utpaat has created waves by creating records in the local market. Created with a very limited budget, this was one of the most eagerly awaited Assamese movies. Post the mega starer movies like Mission China, Kanchanjangha and Ratnakar, Local Utpaat is the next Assamese film to emerge as a blockbuster at the box office. Directed by Kenny Basumatary, this action comedy has earned more than both Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Dr. Strange in the past week.
The film’s first week collections at the box office are estimated to be around Rs 40 lakh. And out which approximately half goes to the theatres. Distributor Sukanta Paul of Mitali Films confirmed this, saying: “100% it has done the best sales out of all three films. Public demand was so high that shows were increased at almost all cinema halls.”
Local Utpaat enters its second week tomorrow in a huge of theatres across the state. The film has an extremely high positive public rating of 97% on bookmyshow.com. Audiences have mentioned that after two years, they have finally had a chance to laugh out loud for two hours continuously.
Director Kenny Basumatary expressed his gratitude towards the public for whole heartedly accepting this film. He mentioned that the tremendous response has encouraged them to release it in theatres in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Kharghar, Bangalore and Kolkata. He also requested everyone to tell others about this action comedy as well so that they can make the next project using personal funding.
Another upcoming hope for Assamese movie is Emuthi Puthi, by Aamis famed Bhaskar Hazarika. This family drama-comedy is all set to release on the 17th of next month.
